The Studio Behind the Programme.
Obranev began as a single question: what does a coaching practice look like when every decision is written down, revisited, and refined? The answer lives in the programming that follows — and in the discipline behind delivering it consistently.
The practice was founded in Paris in 2019, drawing on over a decade of work with individuals at varying stages of their fitness — from those returning to consistent activity after long periods away, to competitive athletes requiring structured conditioning blocks.
What distinguished the approach from the outset was documentation. Every initial assessment, every periodised plan, every progress check-in was recorded — not for administrative convenience, but because the written record creates accountability on both sides. The coach commits to the reasoning; the individual can see exactly how each session connects to the larger arc of the programme.
Over time, this practice of transparent, written programming became the defining feature of Obranev. Clients began referring to it as "training with a paper trail" — a phrase that, however informal, accurately captures the ethos. Nothing happens without deliberate intent; nothing continues without evidence that it is working.
Assessment Before Action
Every engagement begins with a movement screening and body composition assessment. The data from that first session informs the structure of the entire programme. Assumptions are not made; patterns are observed.
Periodisation as a Discipline
Training adapts across weeks and months, not just session to session. A periodised plan accounts for recovery, progressive overload, and the natural variation in an individual's available energy and focus throughout a training block.
Progress Tracking as Communication
Session recaps, weekly schedules, and training logs are shared with each individual. Progress tracking is not a reporting exercise — it is a dialogue. When a pattern shifts unexpectedly, the record provides the context needed to respond intelligently.
Lifestyle as Context
A session exists within a life. Sleep quality, work stress, hydration habits, rest-day routine — these are not separate from the programme; they are part of the data the programme is built around. Lifestyle coaching is integrated into the engagement from the beginning.
A Practice Built on Ongoing Professional Development
The coaching practice at Obranev is led by a certified specialist with formal qualifications in functional fitness, strength programming, and sport-specific conditioning. Professional development is regarded as an ongoing commitment, not a one-time credential.
Continuing education in mobility work, posture correction, and endurance coaching informs how the practice evolves. Each year brings a review of existing methodologies and, where the evidence warrants it, an update to how sessions are structured and delivered.
The studio operates from a private space in the 9th arrondissement of Paris — a deliberate choice for its quiet atmosphere and accessibility to clients across the Île-de-France region. Group training formats and outdoor sessions in the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont are available seasonally.
"There is a quiet honesty to physical progress — it shows up in the log before it shows up in the mirror."
